the bear made of forest fireflies
He does not walk through the forest so much as the forest walks with him — ten thousand fireflies agreeing, for one twilight hour, to be a bear.
The Image
In the pine-dark, his outline glows amber and green: a shoulder of sparks, a muzzle of drifting light, paws that scatter embers of gold across the moss with every unhurried step.
Where an ordinary bear would block the light, this one is the light — the trees behind him shine straight through.
A Moment to Stay In
Imagine the hush. No roar, only the soft tick of cooling air, the smell of resin, and a great gentle shape pausing at the stream to drink — his reflection doubling the stars.
Each firefly will return to being only itself by morning. Tonight, together, they are something larger and kinder.
