7 Galaxy Tips: One UI Moves You Will Use Daily

Your Galaxy is hiding its best moves in plain sight. One UI's split screen, routines, and Edge Panels can save you taps every single day — here are the seven worth turning on first, in plain order.

Tips 1–2: Quick Panel and One-Handed Mode

Tip 1 — Edit your Quick Panel like you mean it. Swipe down twice, tap the pencil icon, and drag the controls you actually use — flashlight, airplane mode, screen recorder — to the top. Controls buried on a second screen might as well not exist when you need them fast.

Tip 2 — Turn on One-handed mode. In Settings, search for One-handed mode and enable the gesture or button shortcut. One swipe shrinks the screen toward your thumb, which makes big Galaxy phones genuinely usable on a train, in a store line, or while carrying coffee.

  • Quick Panel: keep six essentials visible, no more.
  • One-handed mode: practice the gesture twice and it becomes reflex.

These two changes alone make a Galaxy feel faster, because they remove the small frictions you hit dozens of times a day.

Tips 3–4: Split Screen and Edge Panels

Tip 3 — Use Split Screen from Recents. Open Recents, tap an app's icon, and choose Open in split screen view, then pick the second app. Messages over Maps, notes over a browser, or a video over email — this is the Galaxy superpower most owners never touch.

Tip 4 — Make Edge Panels earn their place. In Settings, Display, Edge Panels, keep only the panels you use: Apps for your top shortcuts, Clipboard for copied text history, or Smart Select for quick screenshots of part of the screen.

Edge Panels Settings, Display Shortcuts from any screen
App Pairs Edge Apps panel Launch a split pair in one tap

Save your favorite split as an App Pair and it launches both apps together. Android fans will find familiar ground in our 7 Android tips roundup — One UI builds several of those ideas in by default.

Tips 5–6: Routines and Screenshot Smarts

Tip 5 — Automate one thing with Modes and Routines. Start simple: a Sleep routine that turns on Do Not Disturb and dims the screen at night, or a Work routine that silences personal apps during work hours. One good routine beats ten clever ones you abandon.

Tip 6 — Screenshot smarter. After taking a screenshot, the toolbar lets you crop, draw, or tap the scroll-capture button to capture a long page in one image. In Settings, search Screenshot and turn on Delete after sharing if your gallery fills with one-time screenshots.

  • Routines live in Settings under Modes and Routines.
  • Palm swipe capture can be toggled under Advanced features, Motions and gestures.
  • Pin a screenshot or window when sharing your phone screen with someone.

And when a family member's phone goes missing, routines will not help — but our guide to finding a lost phone on silent will.

Tip 7: Secure Folder and Battery Care

Tip 7 — Use Secure Folder for your private layer. Secure Folder creates a protected space, locked separately, for banking apps, documents, or photos you do not want in the main gallery. Find it in Settings under Security and privacy, set it up with your Samsung account, and add only what truly belongs there.

Pair it with honest battery care. One UI can show battery health habits under Battery and device care. Use Protect battery options if you keep your phone for years and charge overnight, keep adaptive brightness on, and review which apps use the most background battery each month.

  • Secure Folder: separate lock, separate app copies.
  • Battery: check the top background drainers monthly.
  • Backups: confirm Samsung Cloud or Google backup ran recently.

Your Galaxy, Tuned — Summary

None of these tips needs a new phone, an app download, or a risky setting. They are already on your Galaxy, waiting in One UI's menus.

  • Edit the Quick Panel and enable One-handed mode today.
  • Live in Split Screen and Edge Panels for a week.
  • Add one Routine, screenshot smarter, and set up Secure Folder.

Which of these seven One UI moves will you turn on first — and which one did you not know your Galaxy could do?
