How to Turn Off BitLocker in Windows 11
Follow this secure guide to decrypt your drive and disable BitLocker.
Ensure you are logged into an Administrator account before starting these steps.
Open Settings
Click the Start menu and select the Settings gear icon.
Shortcut: Press Win + I
Go to Privacy & Security
In the left sidebar menu, click on Privacy & security.
Select Device Encryption
Scroll down to find Device encryption or BitLocker settings and click on it.
Manage BitLocker
Click on the Manage BitLocker option to open the dedicated Drive Encryption control panel window.
Turn Off BitLocker
Locate the specific drive you want to decrypt in the list and click Turn off BitLocker next to it.
Confirm Decryption
A security prompt will appear. Click Yes or Turn off to confirm your choice.
Wait for Decryption
The decryption process will begin. You can monitor the progress in the window. Note: This may take a while depending on drive size.
Completion
Once the progress bar finishes, your drive is fully decrypted and BitLocker is disabled.
