HOW2 SHOPIFY: Speed Up Your Store in 1 Hour
Slow pages quietly tax every sale. One focused hour — images, leftover app code and fonts — can make your store feel dramatically faster.
Minute 0–15: Shrink Your Images
Oversized images are the number-one store slowdown. Compress product photos before upload, use JPG or WebP, and never upload a 4000-pixel image to show at 800 pixels. Re-upload your top ten product images first.
Minute 15–35: Remove Ghost App Code
Deleted apps often leave code behind in your theme. Duplicate your theme first, then look for snippets from apps you no longer use and remove them — or ask the app developer what to clean. One dead app can cost a full second.
Minute 35–50: Fonts and Apps Audit
- Use one font family with two weights, maximum
- List every installed app; delete anything unused for 60 days
- Remove pop-ups that fire on arrival — they delay and annoy
Minute 50–60: Test Like a Customer
Run your store through PageSpeed Insights on mobile, then actually shop your own store on your phone. Add to cart, check out, feel the pauses. Fix the worst page first — usually the product page.
Summary
- Compress and right-size images
- Purge leftover app code on a theme copy first
- Fewer fonts, fewer apps, faster sales
