aop3d techShare
To catch Xerneas, also known as "The One That Gives," you need to complete Main Mission 40. Like Yveltal, this is a post-game quest that only triggers after you have finished the main campaign and participated in the Infinite Z-A Royale.
Here is your guide to finding and capturing the Life Pokémon.
1. Start the Mission
After beating the game and winning your first reward match at the Royale, return to Hotel Z. You will meet L, who explains that the "One That Gives" has been spotted.
Go to the Pokémon Research Lab and speak to Mable. She will task you with "calming" three powerful Alpha Pokémon that are disrupting the energy in various Wild Zones.
2. Defeat the Three Alphas
You must track down and either catch or defeat these specific Alphas:
-
Alpha Steelix (Lv. 70): Located in the center of Wild Zone 3.
-
Alpha Gallade (Lv. 70): Found in the southwest park area of Wild Zone 5.
-
Alpha Pangoro (Lv. 70): Perched on top of a tall building in Wild Zone 9. You’ll need to use Rock Smash near some Sableye to find the ladder leading to the roof.
3. Locate Xerneas
Once the Alphas are dealt with, return to Mable. She will pinpoint a massive energy spike in Wild Zone 11.
-
Location: The northern bank of the Saison Canal.
-
Navigation: When you fast travel to Wild Zone 11, you’ll be on the south side of the river. You have to follow the path all the way around the edge of the zone to reach the northern side.
-
Trigger: Interact with the sparkling patch of grass on the canal bank, and Xerneas will appear.
4. The Battle Strategy
Xerneas is Level 75 and a pure Fairy type. It is a mandatory catch to complete the mission.

Pro Tips for the Fight:
-
Strike During the Charge: When Xerneas uses Geomancy, it spends the first turn charging. This is your best window to deal damage or throw a Poké Ball while it isn't attacking.
-
Watch for Horn Leech: Like Yveltal’s Oblivion Wing, this move heals Xerneas. Using a Steel-type Pokémon (like the Alpha Steelix you just encountered) is great here because they resist
-
Fairy and Grass moves.
- The Catch: Use Ultra Balls once its health is in the red. If you’re feeling stylish, many players use a Moon Ball (a reward from high-rank Royale matches) to match its aesthetic.
What’s Next?
Capturing Xerneas completes Mission 40. If you have already caught Yveltal in Mission 41, you will unlock the final legendary arc: "To Keep the World in Balance," where you face Zygarde.
