Finding the Mega Stones (and specialized items) for the XYZ Trio is the true "mastery" step in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. While Zygarde gets a dedicated Mega Stone in the base game, Xerneas and Yveltal require a bit more work through the Mega Dimension DLC.

Here is how to track them all down.

1. Zygardite (The Order Stone)

Unlike the other two, Zygarde has a direct Mega Evolution in this game. Its stone is found during the climax of the post-game.

  • Location: Lumiose Spire (Prism Tower) Top Floor.

  • How to get it: Immediately after catching Zygarde in Main Mission 42, search the glowing debris behind where it was standing. The Zygardite will be there.

  • Effect: When held by Zygarde (any form), it allows it to Mega Evolve into its Complete Form mid-battle without needing the "Power Construct" ability to trigger at half HP.

2. Xerneas & Yveltal (The "Primal" Stones)

Xerneas and Yveltal do not have traditional Mega Stones in the base game. To unlock their "Origin" (or Mega-adjacent) forms, you need the Mega Dimension DLC.

How to Obtain

Life Core

Xerneas

Complete the "Eternal Bloom" Side Mission in the DLC. You must bring a Florges (White Flower) to the Saison Canal at sunrise.

Destruction Core

Yveltal

Complete the "Shadow of the Moon" Side Mission in the DLC. Defeat the level 90 Alpha Darkrai in the Rouge District at night.

3. Finding Other Rare Mega Stones

If you're looking for the stones for your other teammates, most are bought or earned through gameplay:

  • The Stone Emporium (Vernal Avenue):

    • Sells "Common" stones like Garchompite, Gengarite, and Lucarionite for 50,000 to 100,000 Pokédollars.

  • Quasartico Mega Shard Exchange:

    • Talk to Vinnie. You can trade Mega Shards (found in glowing ore deposits) for rarer stones like Alakazite (360 shards) or Aerodactylite (240 shards).

  • The Infinite Z-A Royale:

    • Winning 15 consecutive matches in the post-game battle facility unlocks the Floettite (for Eternal Flower Floette) and the Mewtwonite X/Y.

Pro Tip: The "Mega Sensor"

Once you have caught Zygarde, talk to Mable at the Research Lab. She will upgrade your Z-A Comm with a Mega Sensor. This makes your controller vibrate whenever you are near a hidden Mega Stone in the Wild Zones.
