Super Mario Bros Wonder Guide: 9 Tips to Win Fast
Every course hides a twist that flips the level upside down. These 9 tips help you find Wonder Seeds, pick the right badge, and clear the Flower Kingdom without replaying the same jump fifty times.
1. Start Right in the Flower Kingdom
Tip 1 — Pick a character that fits you. There are 12 playable characters. The Yoshis and Nabbit do not take damage from enemies, which makes them perfect for younger players or a relaxed first run. Everyone else plays with the classic rules.
Tip 2 — Read the difficulty stars. Each course shows a star rating before you enter. Clear the 1- and 2-star courses in a world first, save the 4- and 5-star challenges for when you have better badges.
Tip 3 — Spend Flower Coins on purpose. Poplin Shops sell Wonder Seeds, 1-Up Mushrooms, and Standees. Buy the seed first — seeds open new paths. It is the same explore-smart habit we teach in our Animal Crossing island guide.
2. Use the New Power-Ups Properly
Wonder adds three new power-ups alongside Fire Flower and Super Star. Each one solves a different kind of problem.
| Power-Up | What It Does | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Elephant Fruit | Big form, trunk swipes, store water to spray blocks and plants | Breaking blocks, wide enemies |
| Bubble Flower | Blow bubbles that trap enemies and become platforms you can bounce on | Gaps, high coins, safe landings |
| Drill Mushroom | Burrow into floors and ceilings, dodge enemies underground | Hidden areas, spiky hazards |
| Fire Flower | Classic fireballs | Distance attacks |
Tip 4 — Keep a spare in reserve. Tap the reserve slot when a course turns hard, not after you fall. A saved Bubble Flower is a free second chance over any pit.
3. Wonder Flowers, Seeds and Badges
Tip 5 — Always chase the Wonder Flower. Touching it triggers the Wonder Effect — pipes slither, stampedes charge, gravity flips, or you transform. Survive to the end of the effect to earn that course's Wonder Seed.
Tip 6 — Collect both seeds in every course. Most courses hide one seed in the Wonder Effect and award another at the Goal Pole. Seeds unlock new worlds and, eventually, the Special World.
Tip 7 — Equip ONE badge, and swap it often. Prince Florian lets you wear one badge at a time. Action badges like Parachute Cap and Wall-Climb Jump change how you move, Boost badges like Safety Bounce save you from one fall, and Expert badges are for masters. Match the badge to the course, not to habit.
4. Co-op, Secrets and the Special World
Tip 8 — Play together, revive together. In local co-op for up to four players, a fallen player floats as a ghost for a few seconds — touch them to revive them without losing a life. Online, Standees you place can revive other players, and their Standees can save you.
Tip 9 — Hunt the exits nobody marks. Some courses hide a second Goal Pole or a secret exit that opens a shortcut. If a course feels too short, replay it, follow every pipe, and check ceilings with the Drill Mushroom. Finishing every world and collecting enough seeds opens the Special World — the game's hardest, most joyful courses.
