Concept Definition Application
Jailing Landing an attack with high hit advantage, forcing the opponent to block your next attack. Use a D1 (poke) on hit to guarantee a standing High attack cannot be ducked.
Plus on Block An attack that recovers faster for the attacker than the defender who blocked it. Maintains offensive pressure. E.g., Johnny Cage's F3 (+3 on block).
Hit Confirming Reacting to whether an initial attack hits or is blocked before committing to a punishable special move. Inputting 1,1... seeing it hit... then finishing with 1,1, Special Move.
Flawless Block (MK11/MK1) Blocking an attack within a 3-frame window of impact. Negates chip damage and drastically reduces blockstun, opening up U2/U3 reversals.

Crucial Armor Breaks

  • Spawn (B1, 2): Catches early breakaways, restands the opponent, and grants a massive Krushing Blow.
  • Joker (F3, 2): Destroys armor during his launch combos, leading into fatal blow setups.
  • Fujin (Sky Wakka): Delaying the drop kicks can bait out breakaways entirely, wasting the opponent's defensive meter.

Tip: Always monitor the opponent's defensive bars (bottom corners) before committing to a highly punishable launcher.

MKX: The Vortex & Run Cancels

MKX demands aggressive stamina management and the ability to trap opponents in a 50/50 guessing loop (The Vortex).

Tanya Kobu Jutsu Tonfa Vortex: 2U3 > Teleport > J1 > F1. Forces a guess between B3 (Low) or F2 (Overhead). If wrong, the combo repeats.
Predator Hish-Qu-Ten Laser Cancel: BF4 (Hold) > Run Cancel. Creates massive frame traps. 212 > Laser Cancel > 212 jails the opponent endlessly.
