What is a UUID v4?
A UUID v4 is a 128-bit label that looks like 550e8400-e29b-41d4-a716-446655440000. It is generated randomly, so the chance of two being identical is practically zero.
Developers use them as unique IDs for database records, files, sessions, and devices — anywhere a one-of-a-kind tag is needed.

3 pro tips
- UUID v4 = random. Unlike v1 (timestamp-based) or v3/v5 (name-based), v4 identifiers carry no information about you or your machine.

- Store IDs as strings, not numbers — UUIDs are 36 characters with hyphens, and databases love them as CHAR(36).
