HOW2 SHOPIFY: Verify Your Store in Google Search Console in 10 Minutes

Google can't fix what it can't see. Connecting Search Console shows you exactly which products rank, which pages throw errors, and what customers searched before they found you. Ten minutes now, free SEO x-ray vision forever.

Why Every Store Owner Needs This

Without Search Console you're flying blind: Google tells you nothing about broken product pages, missing titles, or the exact queries that surface your store. With it, you get click data per page, indexing errors, mobile usability flags, and Core Web Vitals — all straight from the search engine itself.

It also speeds up indexing: submit your sitemap once and Google stops discovering your new products by accident.

The 10-Minute Setup

  1. Go to search.google.com/search-console and sign in with the Google account that owns your business.
  2. Choose Domain property (covers www, non-www, and subdomains) and enter your domain without https://.
  3. Verify via DNS TXT record — copy the record Google gives you, paste it into your domain's DNS settings (wherever you bought the domain), and click Verify. (If DNS scares you, use the URL prefix property and verify with the HTML tag pasted into your theme's <head> instead.)
  4. Once verified, open Sitemaps in the left menu and submit yourstore.com/sitemap.xml — Shopify generates it automatically.

Wizard tip: check the Pages report after 48 hours. Fix anything marked "Not indexed" — those are sales hiding in the dark.
