Picking colors that look good AND stay readable is a real skill. HueLab is a free two-in-one color toolkit: a palette generator that builds harmonious 5-color schemes in one click, and a WCAG contrast checker that grades any text-and-background pairing.

Everything runs in your browser — no uploads, no sign-up. Click any swatch to copy its hex code.

How to Use This Widget

Objective: Build beautiful, readable color schemes for websites, graphics, and slides.

Desktop: Hit Generate, lock swatches you love, click any swatch to copy its hex, then test your text color against your background in the contrast checker.

Mobile: Tap everything — swatches, locks, and color pickers are all touch-sized.

What the outputs mean: Palette swatches show copyable hex codes; the checker shows the live contrast ratio (e.g. 7.0:1) plus AA/AAA pass badges for normal and large text.

Tips:

  • Aim for 4.5:1 or higher for body text (AA); large headlines only need 3:1.
  • Lock your hero color, then regenerate to explore palettes built around it.
  • Try Analogous for calm schemes, Triadic when you want energy.

Beautiful colors are half the job — readable colors are the other half.
