Fake Delivery Texts: 6 Scams to Delete Fast

'Your package could not be delivered. Pay a small redelivery fee.' That one text has emptied more wallets than most malware — because it arrives exactly when you really are waiting for a parcel.

Why Delivery Smishing Works So Well

Almost everyone is expecting a package almost all the time, so the scammer does not need to know anything about you. The text creates urgency, the fee looks tiny, and the fake page harvests your full card details — the small charge is the bait, not the prize.

The 6 Tricks to Delete on Sight

  • The redelivery fee — carriers do not collect card fees by text link.
  • The address problem — 'confirm your address' pages that also ask for payment details.
  • The customs charge — fake import fees for orders you never placed internationally.
  • The missed-delivery QR or link with a shortened URL and a countdown timer.
  • The delivery-app clone — a link that installs a fake tracking app outside the official store.
  • The code relay — a follow-up asking you to read back a verification code; that code unlocks your account, not your parcel.

The 10-Second Check That Defeats Them All

Never use the link in the text. Open the carrier's official app or type the carrier's real website yourself, and track the parcel there with your genuine tracking number. If the parcel is real, it will show up there. If it only exists inside the text message, it is a scam.

The same discipline protects your accounts more broadly — see our iPhone Live Voicemail guide for how live screening helps you slow down and verify before you answer.

Already Clicked? Do This Now

  • Close the page; if you entered card details, call the bank using the number on the card itself.
  • Change any password you typed, and turn on two-factor authentication.
  • Run a full antivirus scan, and remove any app the page persuaded you to install.
  • Tell AOP3D Tech or a trusted tech if anything feels off — early cleanup is far easier than late cleanup.

The Wizard's Verdict

Real carriers have your parcel in their own system. Scammers have only a text message. Delete first, verify in the official app second, and you will never pay a fake redelivery fee.

Have you had a fake delivery text this month — and did it almost catch you?
