the wolf howling a river of stars

tonight's piece

on the hill the wolf lifts his head
and the milky way answers,
pouring itself down the dark
like a river that forgot its banks.

he drinks the light in long howls.
the stars do not mind.
they have been waiting all evening
for someone to call them by name.
